A charity event will be held to raise money for WCCCI. The event called ‘Culture of Compassion’ was put together by Swati Shah to help raise money for the Center of Compassion in Basilicata, Italy. The evening will bring together people from New York City’s communities to help create awareness for children and refugees worldwide.

The event will consist of a silent art auction, with art donated by Caribbean and New York City artists; with musical performances by Opera on Tap and Morley; and Adidas donated door prizes. A representative from WCCCI will also be present to give an overview of the Center of Compassion.

27th and 28th September, 2008

Betty Williams and the WCCCI team are in Italy for the conference on “The City of Peace for Children in Basilicata”. To be held in Matera, this will be an occasion for the young people of the region to meet and listen to Noble Peace Laureates within the project.

On the 28th of September, on the grounds of Terzo Cavone in the municipality of Scanzano Jonico, there will be a Ceremonial Blessing of the Land. This is the future site for the first Center of Compassion.

Athens Mayor Nikitas Kaklamanis meets with Betty Williams – 23rd September, 2008

Athens Mayor Nikitas Kaklamanis and World Centres of Compassion for Children International (WCCCI) founder and chairman Betty Williams today underlined the need to take action to raise public awareness of issues affecting children. During a press conference at City Hall, Mayor Kaklamanis and Ms Williams announced details of a benefit concert featuring Mario Frangoulis and Laria Fabian, to take place tomorrow evening at the Herod Atticus theatre.

Betty Williams and members of WCCCI organization are in Greece to attend the concert of Ambassador of Peace, Mario Frangoulis on September 24, 2008.

As part of the visit, Betty Williams will also have the pleasure in meeting a number of Athens well known compassionate people, and visiting a number of successful projects.

19th September, 2008

International tenor and Ambassador of Peace for the WCCCI Mario Frangoulis will be appearing at London’s Royal Albert Hall. Mario will be accompanied by the National Symphony Orchestra conducted by Anthony Inglis as well as Natasha Marsh, Justin Hayward, Steve Balsamo and Lara Fabian.

Betty Williams and members from WCCCI will be attending the concert and supporting our amazing Ambassador.

News and Past Events

President De Filippo announced in a press conference in Rome in December that they were funding the First Center in the Basilicata Region. Plans are now underway to complete the Foundation of management and launch this first Center.

January 30th 2007: During a visit of Betty Williams to Basilicata, it was announced by Vito De Filippo the President of the Region, that within the Monastery of Santa Maria D’orsoleo a Sant’Arcangelo in Val D’Agri, WCCC International will have an official seat, devoted to peace formation and that the Basilicata Region will sustain the organization of the Second Summit - Mothers of the Earth for World Peace

Summer 2008: WCCCI announces its first global sponsors: Eli Lilly Italia, Jaguar Sports, White Flash Diamonds and Mario Frangoulis. Each of these outstanding organizations will be sharing proceeds of initiatives in 2008-2009 to support the work of the organization.

May 15, 2008: The US organization takes root and announces its new operating team. WCCC-US is incorporated in Massachusetts, under the leadership of Tony Dunkel, President of the US operation. The team is focusing on fundraising, education, and promotion of the rights of the child, including the promotion of the Declaration of Rights for Children.
